Born in Ireland, Paula Higgins studied art in Dublin, where she graduated in 1991.

Since graduating, she has worked as a freelance illustrator for publishing houses and in advertising . She has also spent
some years teaching art in Botswana.

Since moving to Australia in 2003 she has become a well established artist, having had successful solo and group exhibitions
throughout Australia.

Paula paints from her studio at home on the sunshine coast. She always has a pencil at hand and can recall her response
to a place or an object more easily through the experience of having drawn it.

Each painting is an important piece of an on going biographical account of the artist s life. Some from her regular visits to
Ireland and Cornwall but mostly from her everyday family life in Queensland. She is seduced by colour, and uses it to
involve the viewer and evoke the spirit within the paintings.

Her family, their travels and the landscapesurrounding their home form the backdrop to most of her works. "It seems to be an
endless source of inspiration".
